Little Unknown Gems

“If it can’t be automated or nearly automated don’t do it. There are too many low hanging fruit opportunities online to waste time chasing “jobs” that require all your time, effort and energy.” Jim Cockrum, MySilentTeam

Most of us have heard of Jim and mysilentteam or will in the near future.

I was introduced to John Thornhill through MySilentTeam. Like minded people hang with like minded people.

I have learned to look at the whole picture when listening to someone I respect.

you see, in my teachings I believe people who are doers can understandably have the gift to teach.

There are great minds out there that cannot portray what they mean because they do not have this gift.

When these gifted people start rolling, they can’t be stopped and Jim C. is one of these people.

He leads by example so well that many times it is easy for me to miss little pieces of invaluable knowledge and information when he speaks (Writes).

Point in case:

In Jim’s latest newsletter, which is short, sweet and always to the point; he said the above quote.

so I read it and moved along as I was busy. A day or two later as I always do with my newsletters I reread Jim’s and this quote stuck like super glue. Nothing I wasn’t aware of or had heard him and others say in the past, just this time I really got it!

I am not technical and am intimidated by some technology I see on the net. I therefore turned my effort towards article marketing in the early days and had success.

Article marketing is easy as long as you like to write and have time.

Well I’m not a big time writer as it takes me time to do them and time is not another thing I have endless amounts of.

But, article marketing I grasped and started down the path with.

Now, I’ve had success with articles and moved into outsourcing and flipping articles. I started making a little money by having articles written for $1.00 (Yes, one dollar) and submitting to AssociatedContent.

I had to take these $1.00 articles and make corrections before submitting. You get what you pay for, but I was making about $200.00 dollars a month doing it.

I realized that was no way to go as I was working maybe 40 hours a month which averaged out to $5.00/hr or so. But I made money and proudly so.

This is exactly what Jim is referring to in his quote. I was working a job, I had commitments to pay my ghost writers, I had to proofread and correct the articles, submit them, follow up and so on.

It didn’t take long once I started selling on eBay to see exactly what this quote meant.

This article isn’t about outsourcing but through eBay that is exactly what has happened.

I made money through eBay, plus refereed sports in my off time to have articles written for me.

I think Jim’s quote is one of knowledge and experience and should be taken to heart.

We have an opportunity to shape not only our business, but our lives.

Don’t create a business that you will be a slave to. Create a business you can live life through.

MySilentTeam is where my inspiration and belief that I can really make a living on the Internet comes from.

I can’t tell you for sure but I believe at least once a month I get something invaluable, some out of the way info I call an added little extra gem from this free newsletter.

Work to live, not live to work is my mission, and Jim clearly states that in his own words.

  1. Good Day Alan,

Buddy, you seem like a very wise man and I am glad to be in John’s class with you. I am also a silentteam member and have great respect for Jim Cochrum.

I’ve just completed my first 10 articles on ezinearticles and am waiting for platinum approval. Once I get that I assume its okay for me to spread these articles everywhere, right?

I am coming back to your blog later today to learn more about how you are making things happen as I am new to this and haven’t earned a dime off information products yet.

Good to know you Alan, talk to you later.

    Barry

  2. Hi Barry,

    Thanks for your kind remarks.

I think you should never submit an article anywhere until Ezine approves it. (Which I think is what you mean)

To get even better results Barry, switch up (Rewrite) your articles after EZine approves them if possible and then submit them to other article directories.

If not, then submit them as is, but only after Ezinearticles approves you.

I have on keywords with no competition grabbed the first 3 spots on Google for the same keyword, by rewriting the same article three different times (Honest).

Please understand the keyword had very few searches a day and definitely was not a major player.

But the test let me know it was possible and very easy.

Looking forward to seeing you in the forum. If I can help in anyway feel free to email and I will be glad to give my opinion.

Great to know you to Barry, take care.

    Alan

  3. Hi Alan –

Love this post and it is so true. I read the same email from JC and nodded in agreement. The trick is of course, to know when you have created just another job for yourself or when you have truely dissociated what you do with how much you get paid for it. Creating products and allowing affiliates to promote them is definitely one way to do this… but I would never disount the opportunity to make money off articles that have already bee approved at EZA.

I wuld love to know more about AssociatedContent. I heard it was just for folks in the US?

    Cheers

    Susan

  4. Very interesting reading, Alan! I love that quote from JC. I certainly have ventured off on my fair share of endeavors that turned into “jobs” paying much less than minimum wage! Lol.

Thank you for the eye-opening post that will hopefully help many of us from falling into that no-win situation (I can’t totally say it’s a no-win as we always gain knowledge through our mistakes!).

Looking forward to getting to know you more. Keep up the good work, Alan!

  5. Great post Alan. I have only just started using Aweber to automate my emails, despite being a subscriber for 14 months. I should have done it ages ago! The emails are now sent on time, and I don’t do a thing – Marvellous. :-)

  6. Good post Alan! Automation software tools have been steadily rolling off the product creation lab shelves for the last few years and they just keep getting better and better. This week I saw an offer for a software tool that can take an article and turn it into a professional looking video presentation in a short time. I didn’t buy it but it still looked like the best way to get the most value from every article. Steve D.

  7. Thank you Alan for all your help with my Instant Guru System!

I really appriciate it, and you know, just ask and I will return the favor!

You truely are one of those people who cares and want to spend your valuable time helping others.

I wish you all the best!

    Big hug
    Marlene
