Do Psychological Levers Still Work?
You tell me… Well I’ll tell you, yes they are nearly as powerful as ever.
These psychological levers (Right click and save or just click on the link) are One Time Only offers, countdown offers, max download offers only and others.
They all do the same thing, put fear in front of you that you won’t get “Whatever it is” they have if you don’t get it now.
I see these all the time and am getting much better at looking past them, however If I’m looking for a certain “Thing” and I see it with a time limit, I admit; I may very well act on it.
To easy to bookmark and look for a better deal elsewhere, but if I’m on your page and want that product, a $20.00 off one time offer (OTO) can hook me in a second.
Want a psychological lever on your site? For free? Go now (Right click and save or just click on the link) because I will remove this tomorrow… See what I mean? it works.
First off, I’m not taking this down tomorrow, or the next day but my point is well taken.
I received these from Ian Traynor, a marketer who’s list I have been on for years. Ian is terrific at uncovering valuable information and not so good at subtle selling.
I say that as a compliment because he hides little if anything when he gets ready to offer you something for sale. He tells you, this is for sale at this price for this long and then it goes to this price… and it does, I really like this guy.
Anyway, check out this free download to help you create more urgency today.
Don’t be deterred as you will be required to obtain a key to unlock the software. It is a one time thing and Ian does this to get you on his list and hopefully keep you. Just unsubscribe if what he says doesn’t interest you, but I would give him a chance or two as he is a good guy.
Go here and get these psychological levers (Right click and save or just click on the link) for your website today and see how they can help you.
Alan,
Good posts. And YES, psychological levers still work, and they will always work.
One of the things about email marketing and list building is that you need to find that ‘edge’ and how to convince your reader that he/she NEEDS to open YOUR email to find out what it’s about.
It’s not about misleading them. That’s wrong. It’s about creating a curious enough subject line (pertaining to what the email is about) to get them to notice YOUR email.
Stand out. And Ian does it well. I am on his list also
Keep up the great work!
Hi Alan, what an excellent post and written in such a way to emphasize your point.
Keep up the great work Alan
Back soon, Regards, Barry
Hi Alan,
Fantastic post! You really get your point across.
Best regards,
George Nieves
Hi Alan,
Yes Psycholigical Levelers do work, just not on me anymore. I have seen some really cool things that if I don’t get “TODAY” I will never have them. Yeah, well, so what!
Jim Cockrum says if they are that good, then they will be that good a few months from now!
When I was first starting out, I didn’t know anything abut OTO’s and upsells and I thought I better get this or I am not gonna succeed!
Now I don’t even look at sales pages anymore. Why? I am not buying anything!!
One thing I have learned is that I need to be a marketer, not a prospect.
I don’t need to buy anything, I need to create it!
I am going to get on Ian’s list and see if I like what he has to say.
Thanks for sending him my way!!
Take care and God Bless!
Lisa~

Hi Alan,
I was a sucker for the psychological levers for a few years.
I was an internet marketers dream. Now like Lisa, I do not buy anything unless I know that it will absolutely with out a doubt benefit me and my business such as software etc.
I hope everything is going well. See you back here soon!
Cheers
Jacinta
Hi Alan, I agree with the above sentiments in that I do believe they work. I have been a ‘victim’ of them on many occassions, as we all have. Would I use them on my sites? No, I don’t think so. I actually dislike them immensely!
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Alan
As always did you here write a great blog post.. psycological levers are key in the internet marketing world! You really understand how to provide value.
I was wondering if you are going to the London internet millionaires summit this weekend June 17-20 2010? I am going ad it will be great to meet with all the marketers that I have only heard of so far! I even did a blog post about it on my blog, because I am afraid of traveling and especially flying, so this is going to be huge for me!
Did you see my lates event? I am offering 2 months of free IM coaching throug live webinars, exercises and a forum, interested in joining? I only have room for 100 people and I think there are 75 spots left… you have to go to my blog and read the: opportunity of a lifetime post to see how you recerve your spot
Hope to see you there!
Anyway, I really hope everything is alright with you and your family, let me know ok?
Love
Marlene
Hi Alan, have you heard about the 100 blog comment challenge?
A few of us bloggers have got together for it. The aim is to write a blog post and then try and reach 100 comments for it, which in turn builds backlinks and helps improve our google ranking.
I have created a page on my blog dedicated to the contributors Alan:
http://barry-wells.com/contributors-to-the-100-blog-comment-challenge/
if you would like to climb aboard let me know and i’ll add your details to the page.
Take care, Barry
